Also called Dwarf Fig due to its small, oval leaves and compact size, Ficus pumila is a climbing species in the Moraceae family. Its small aerial roots secrete a translucent latex that hardens upon drying, allowing the stems to adhere to their support. Its secondary roots, or tendrils, also allow it to cling to any surface. This fast-growing plant thrives in a terrarium, on a trellis, or in a hanging basket. However, like most Ficus species, it requires regular watering. Too little or too much water can cause its leaves to drop.
Caution! May be toxic if ingested.
