The Alocasia 'Black Velvet' has very dark, glossy foliage. It lives up to its name, as its leaves feel as soft as velvet. Alocasia prefers bright light and being slightly root-bound. Alocasias are also heavy feeders, requiring plenty of water and fertilizer. During its growing season in summer, it is recommended to keep the soil slightly moist and fertilize regularly.
Caution! Risk of toxicity if ingested. The sap of Alocasias contains oxalic acid – risk of irritation upon contact with skin or eyes.
