In addition to being a good source of tannin, cinnamon leaves contain polyphenolic compounds with antimicrobial and antioxidant properties.
Cinnamon leaves also possess extremely valuable therapeutic properties and can often be used as a harmless preventative medicine in aquariums. They are highly antibacterial and antifungal. They also promote or increase the production of scales and shells (carapace) in fish and invertebrates (including isopods).
It is an ideal leaf for both aquariums and terrariums.
