Product description:
The Cubaris “White Shark” are exceptionally elegant isopods, particularly sought after by bioactive terrarium enthusiasts for their striking coloration pattern. Sporting a beautiful white-to-cream color contrasted by a grayish to black head and dark areas, their appearance recalls the imposing silhouette of the great white shark. In addition to their refined appearance, which immediately attracts attention in display enclosures, they actively help clean their environment by consuming organic debris (dead leaves, decaying wood, food scraps) and help maintain a clean, balanced substrate.
They are primarily found under hides, pieces of cork bark, and in dense leaf litter. They thrive in tropical or semi-tropical terrariums with high humidity, while retaining a drier area to provide a perfect gradient.
Quantity: 10+
Highlights:
Exceptional appearance: superb bright white and dark contrast, highly sought after by rare isopod collectors
Excellent “cleanup crew”: efficiently consumes plant debris and decomposing organic matter
Elegant and visible size: ideal for enhancing the visual appeal and adding a premium touch to a display terrarium
Very well suited to tropical enclosures: thrives in warm, humid environments
Typical behavior: may curl completely into a ball when disturbed (“rolly polly” behavior)
Care & parameters:
Humidity: medium to high (a humid area is essential, covering approximately half of the enclosure with sphagnum moss, but a drier area remains essential). Tip: maintain a clear gradient to allow them to regulate their hydration.
Temperature: approximately 22–27°C (a stable, warm temperature promotes colony health and regular reproduction).
Food:
Dead leaf litter and decomposed white wood available at all times (base diet)
Supplements: La Swamp isopod food, small pieces of vegetables, protein supplements (in small quantities)
Calcium: always provide an available source to support shell formation.
Caution: avoid waterlogged substrate and overfeeding to prevent mold or mite infestations. Good ventilation combined with moderate feeding ensures a perfectly healthy colony.
