The bean beetle is an excellent small-sized feeder insect, ideal for small reptiles, amphibians, as well as several invertebrates. Very convenient as a “mini” prey, it is perfect for varying the diet and providing an option suitable for animals that cannot eat large insects.

Cultures are sold at about 3 weeks of age; it will take 1 to 2 weeks for them to hatch.

Each culture contains enough beans for 3 to 4 hatches, so a colony can live for quite a long time.

As for maintenance, there's actually absolutely nothing to do. They don't need any supplemental food or maintenance; in fact, they feed exclusively on the beans. The adults will lay eggs on the beans, then the larva will bore its way into the bean where it will develop and emerge as an adult, then reproduce itself.

Adult specimens live for about 2 weeks before dying.
