Clusia rosea is a small, semi-epiphytic tree with unique foliage. The leaves can be engraved with a sharp object—hence the name "autograph tree"—and the marks remain visible for a long time. Its flowers are similar to those of the magnolia, meaning large flowers with numerous petals, 5-10 cm in diameter, and various shades of pink.
Interesting fact: In the past, its leaves were used as playing cards by the local populations of Costa Rica. They were also used to transmit messages due to the scarcity of paper in some countries.
