These porcelain heating devices screw into a standard porcelain incandescent socket, giving off intense “muscle-penetrating” infrared heat, while emitting no light. The flat-faced design is more efficient and longer lasting than conical designs which build up excess heat internally, ultimately carbonizing the element.

On the other hand, the heat is very intense, you have to be very careful not to cause burns to your pet. It is therefore strongly recommended to leave a space of at least 10 "between the infrared emitter and the place where your reptile has access.
